European Commission Vice President Frans Timmermans has confirmed his visit to Poland on Tuesday. In the afternoon he is meeting Beata Szydło.Government Information Centre has reported that their meeting is scheduled at 2pm. The purpose of the visit is to talk about how to resolve the crisis over the Constitutional Court.

The European Commission was supposed to present its assessment of Poland in the context of the Constitutional Court dispute. In the end, however, they didn’t. The spokesman of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas said: “there are ongoing constructive discussions with the Polish authorities. We hope that we will find a solution.”
The talks, according to Foreign Affairs Minister Witold Waszczykowski, were conducted at an expert level and at a so-called development level, without the participation of ministers.
He revealed that the deputy head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Konrad Szymański was involved in them. Waszczykowski admitted that he does not want to investigate what the reasons to postpone the opinion of the Commission are.
We are interested in dialogue, the prospect of explaining the issue, and bringing it to a successful conclusion. If this dialogue goes on, we are happy – he stressed.
