The American destroyer USS Donald Cook has arrived in Gdynia this morning.

The presence of USS Donald Cook in the Baltic Sea is to demonstrate the commitment of the US Navy in improving joint operational capabilities at sea and the security of NATO as part of the Atlantic Resolve operation – says Kierstead.
After mooring at the quayside the ship will be open for journalists to visit. There is a speech of the commander of the ship for the media planned on board.
USS Donald Cook is equipped with a modern system of battle management – Aegis, which primary task is the defense against enemy planes and missiles. The ship is capable of carrying out many missions and is also effective against other destroyers, submarines and land-based facilities.
On board USS Donald Cook are two MK 41 rocket launchers, ASROC rockets and Tomahawk cruise missiles.
Its port of registry is the base of Norfolk, Virginia (USA), but on a daily basis the ship is at the base of Rota in southern Spain. It is one of four ships of the Forward Deployed Naval Force (FDNF), which task is to increase the security of Europe.
