A man drove over a pedestrian, caused two bumps, kicked a man and tried to push an elderly woman under a bus. After a short search police caught the 36-year-old. They found psychotropic drugs in his car.

He damaged a lot of cars while trying to escape

It all started when the driver got out of the car and kicked a pedestrian. He tried to escape and he caused a bump. Soon afterwards, the police received information about another accident.

He hit a 59-year-old man at a pedestrian crossing, who died at the spot, said Adam Kolasa, police spokesman.

While escaping, the driver hit another car – with an eight-months pregnant woman inside. She went to hospital for examination, but luckily she and the baby are fine.

The man did not stop. After escaping from the scene of accident, the driver abandoned the car. He tried to push an elderly woman under a bus.

The 36-year-old man comes from Łódź. He was sober at the moment of the accident. However, he has a history of mental problems, he was treated in a psychiatric hospital in the past.

His mental state is questionable, said the prosecutor Krzysztof Kopania.

The man is now under the supervision of the police and the prosecutor.

His condition does not allow him to participate in the proceedings, said the doctor who examined the 36-year-old.

The Prosecutor’s Office has not yet decided what the man is going to be accussed of.

There is no doubt that we can speak of at least causing a traffic accident resulting in death, combined with the escape from the scene of crime, which is punishable by imprisonment up to 12 years. But even stricter measures are considered, says Kopania.
